Gavin Patterson is a British businessman who previously served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of British multinational telecommunications company BT Group. He was born on October 10, 1967, in Eltham, London, United Kingdom.
Patterson joined BT in 2004 and held various executive roles within the company before becoming CEO in 2013. During his tenure, Patterson oversaw the expansion of BT's broadband and television services, as well as the acquisition of mobile operator EE.
However, Patterson also faced criticism for his handling of customer service issues, regulatory challenges, and a high-profile accounting scandal in Italy that led to a significant financial loss for the company.
Patterson stepped down as CEO of BT in January 2019 and was succeeded by Philip Jansen. He currently serves on the board of British luxury fashion brand, Jimmy Choo.
